Planning a trip to Wonderla

It is advisable to come to Wonderla without jewelry, watch and any accessories. The rides are pretty wild and you will end up misplacing valuable things. Anyway you do not  need these things at Wonderla as it is one of the most enjoyable places to visit in Bangalore. As regards clothing, comfortable wear that is not loose fitting is preferred. And, carrying a change of clothing is a must. Since it can get very crowded, it is better to carry your own soap and shampoo from a hygiene point of view.

When to visit Wonderla

Wonderla gets extremely crowded on weekends and holidays as it is considered one of the most popular places to visit in Bangalore.. It is better to visit Wonderla on a working day if possible and have fun without having to beat the queues.

Wonderla Rides-What to see and do at Wonderla

Wonderla is spread over 80 acres and is divided into Kids Rides, Wet Rides, Dry Rides and High Thrill Rides.

Wet Rides are the highlight of Wonderla. Lazy River is a popular ride in the water where you get into a float and have a ride through different features like Lion’s mouth, Gargoyles mouth, Alligator and fallen Tree. Boomerang is a more thrilling version of the Lazy River. You take a float and go through a closed chamber and then a sheer drop. Fun racers and Hara-kiri are water slides. Rain Dance is quite a hit at Wonderla. As the name suggests, it’s a Discotheque where warm water is sprayed on the beat of the music accompanied with 10000 watts of sound. Wave pool is where the maximum crowds gather. It is an artificial beach where waves are simulated at periodic intervals.

Dry Rides are made up of a variety of different sections. The Music fountain and Laser show is worth a visit. Hand Glider is a more adventurous ride where you go up to a good height and then glide down to the ground. Pirate Ship works well for adrenelin rish seekers. The wooden craft oscillates 180 degrees giving you all sorts of dizzy feelings.

Dungeon ride is an attempt to scare and amuse you! You are taken on a ride through a dungeon haunted by the ghost of a prison warden. Crazy cars are a fun activity especially for kids who want to drive but are too young to try it on the Road. Termite Coaster and Termite Train are two rides running through undulating tracks inside a giant Termite like structure.

The Kids Rides section is well designed to excite kids of all ages. The rides are not too wild in this section. The all-time favorite Carousel is available and is very well lit during the Night.

Funky Monkey is fun for kids aged 6+ where they are taken up 5 meters and experience a sheer drop.

Convoy is for the younger kids where they can have a jolly ride in a convoy of trucks across a hilly terrain. Merry Ghost is another all-time favorite of kids, a Merry Go Round. For the kids who love Giant Wheel, a miniature version called Kiddies Wheel is available.

High Thrill Rides is for young people and those with a strong heart! Others should stay away from this section which is meant to test your limits. Pregnant Ladies, people with heart ailments and BP should definitely skip this section. Insanity, as appropriately named, is a 4 armed Giant Robot were cabins are provided to sit in each finger. The arms swing in all directions and you get close shaves with other cabins! Hurricane is a giant fan that goes up 20 meters in the sky and then it turns. You end up rotating all over as the capsule rotates on its axis. The most dreaded experience I had was in the Mixer. It is a sure shot recipe for throwing up! You are taken in a capsule that gyrates in all possible directions and you feel as it of are a fruit in a blender.

Safety Tips

While Wonderla is one of the most enjoyable places to visit in Bangalore, Safety precautions are a must. Children have to be supervised at all times at Wonderla. While the authorities have put in safety mechanism and are taking care of hygiene, it is imperative we take some measures as well. Parents need to be extra careful at the Wave pool and not leave Children out of their vicinity. An advice for both kids and adults would be to wait till a ride is fully completed before removing the safety hatches and getting out. Do not overdo the thrilling rides and it is better to take sufficient breaks between rides. Don’t take the rides on full stomach to avoid throwing up! First Aid is available in the premises for any emergency.
